Ronald Kegomoditswe curates The Prodigal Son Solo Exhibition

Ron De Artist, known to his family and friends as Ronald Kegomoditswe, is a force of nature in the contemporary art scene. A prolific artist whose mediums include drawing and painting, he lives and breathes his craft. His breathtaking works are a testament to his passion, and with every brushstroke, he redefines what it means to be an artist.

Ron De Artist has been a model of consistency throughout his career. He’s a familiar face at every art exhibition, big or small, and his dedicated fanbase loves him for it. But Ron isn’t resting on his laurels; he’s always looking to upskill and explore new ways of delivering phenomenal art. Attending workshops and other art exhibitions encourages him to do more, and he’s now taking the bull by the horns and curating his own event.
The Prodigal Son Solo Exhibition, which will be held at the Cresta Bosele Hotel in Selibe-Phikwe on August 23, 2025, is a celebration of creativity, inspiration, and world-class art. It’s also a homecoming for Ron De Artist, as he returns to the town that is the heartbeat of his beginnings. The artist has been working his fingers to the bone, promoting the event online and creating new artworks for the exhibition.

“Taking this art exhibition to Selibe-Phikwe is really an expression of gratitude to a community that made me who I am today,” he says. “They say it takes a village to raise a child, and indeed, the community of this old mining town raised me. I found it crucial to pay homage to them as I celebrate over a decade as a reputable artist.”

Ron De Artist’s work is a reflection of his life’s journey: his experiences, inspirations, and emotions are all painted on canvas. He looks forward to delivering an intimate and immersive experience on the night of the exhibition. It’s important to Ron that students attend the event, as he believes they will draw inspiration from his creative vision and unique techniques.
“They will also expand their understanding of art concepts and styles while networking with me as an artist who has been active for more than a decade,” he explains. “This will be a valuable opportunity for them to engage with art in a real-world context.”
Ron De Artist doesn’t conform to conventional rules and has always put his faith in divine guidance. For years, he’s been self-funding his exhibitions after knocking on doors that were shut in his face. This left him with no choice but to rely on himself.
“Most of these people did not know how to support us. Perhaps they were never taught how to do so, but I believe that they need to get with the program when it comes to us creatives,” he says. “I took it upon myself to invest in my ideas and trust the support of everyday people.”
