DK SKIZOH BW: From Botswana’s spotlight to Africa’s soundwaves

DJ Skizoh BW is rapidly becoming a household name across the African continent, a journey that began with a microphone, a beat, and a crucial platform: the Department of Broadcasting Services (DBS) Roadshow Season 1.
As one of the standout finalists from the show, the roadshow didn’t just thrust Skizoh into the limelight; it unlocked an extraordinary musical path marked by significant international collaborations and widespread cross-border recognition.
“The DBS roadshow played a huge role in exposing me to the right people,” Skizoh reflects, acknowledging the pivotal moment in his career. “That’s where I met DJ Fresh. We ended up collaborating on a track featuring my brother HRB Botizo. That platform allowed me to network and build relationships with creatives, which led to me being discovered and signed by Makhates Production, a South African-based label.”
This pivotal signing with Makhates Production opened a floodgate of opportunities for collaborations. Since then, Skizoh has shared studio magic with renowned artists such as Ntate Stunna, Dalom Kids, and Master KG.
His recent hit singles, featuring DJ Kap, Star Healer, and Queen the Vocalist, have not only resonated with fans but have also earned prime spots on major continental music channels like Trace Africa and Channel O. His distinctive sound continues to make significant waves across numerous South African radio stations.
The creation of his breakout track, “Ngwana o Mopila,” with DJ Kap and Queen the Vocalist, stemmed from a simple act of artistic admiration. “I reached out to Queen after hearing her on one of her songs, and the rest was magic,” he shares, highlighting the organic nature of his creative process.
When asked about the possibility of working with other big names like Prince Benza or Eemoh, Skizoh’s humility shines through. “I think the work speaks for itself. I believe in divine timing. When it’s time, God makes it happen.” This philosophy underscores his patient yet persistent approach to his career.
Currently based in South Africa, Skizoh describes the music scene there as fast-paced and demanding, yet incredibly inspiring. “You really have to be on top of your game,” he asserts. Despite the challenges of securing consistent bookings and meeting the high standards of brand presence, he remains undeterred.
“The reception has been amazing, I’ve built a massive following, and the love is overwhelming.” His confidence in his craft is evident: “My sound is versatile. I don’t stick to one genre. Whatever I touch turns to gold.”
Looking ahead, DJ Skizoh BW has clear aspirations for future collaborations. Locally, he dreams of working with Lioness Ratang, while internationally, his eyes are set on celebrated artists like Aymos, Samthing Soweto, or Young Stunna.
With more “fire music” and significant brand activities on the horizon, DJ Skizoh BW is poised to not only dominate the charts but also become a recognizable face behind the beloved music he continues to create.
