Miss Teen Gaborone to represent Botswana
LEUNGO SEPHOBE: Teen queen championing mental health and more

Fresh off the heels of an impactful international showing in Florida, Botswana’s own Leungo Sephobe is set to illuminate the global stage once more, preparing to walk the ramp at Miss Teen Continents in Spain.
More than just a beauty queen, Leungo is a beacon of purpose, carrying the weight of a nation and the dreams of countless young people on her slender shoulders. “Competing internationally in Florida was a life-changing experience,” Leungo shares, her voice brimming with a newfound confidence. “It gave me confidence, clarity, and a true understanding of what it means to represent not just myself, but my entire country.”

That invaluable experience taught her to “stand strong under pressure, embrace diversity, and bring authenticity to every stage I walk on.” These aren’t just lessons learned; they are deeply ingrained principles guiding her every step as she gears up for Spain. “I carry those lessons with me,” she affirms, “I’m more intentional, more focused and more connected to my purpose than ever before.”
Life for a global competitor, student, and advocate is anything but easy, yet Leungo has mastered the art of discipline. “It’s not always easy, but I’ve learned to stay disciplined and prioritize what matters most,” she explains.
Her secret weapon is time management, meticulously crafted with schedules, clear goals, and a supportive inner circle. But what truly anchors her is her “why.” “Whether I’m in class, on a stage or standing in front of students during outreach, I know I’m doing something that matters. That purpose fuels me.” It’s this unwavering dedication to her core mission that keeps her grounded amidst the whirlwind of her commitments.
Leungo’s vision extends far beyond personal accolades. “I want the world to see that young girls from Botswana are powerful, intelligent and full of heart,” she declares passionately.

For her, beauty and purpose are not mutually exclusive; they are intertwined. “I want to show that beauty and purpose can coexist. I stand as a reminder that even at a young age, we can be the voice of change, not just for ourselves, but for our communities and beyond.” She wants every gaze directed at her to reflect “Botswana’s strength, resilience and light.”
The genesis of Leungo’s powerful advocacy lies in her own lived experience. “Growing up, I witnessed and experienced how deeply bullying can affect someone’s confidence, sense of worth and mental health,” she reveals with raw honesty.

The sting of questioning herself due to others’ words and actions became the catalyst for her remarkable initiative. “That pain became my purpose.” This deeply personal connection led her to establish Arise and Shine, a platform dedicated to ensuring that “no child feels alone, unheard or unworthy because everyone deserves to be seen, supported and reminded of their value.”
