Batho Fashion Week takes shape
Batho Fashion Week casting ignites excitement for September showcase

The fashion buzz is palpable in Gaborone following the successful Batho Fashion Week Casting Experience, held last weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn. This event, drawing 81 aspiring models from across Botswana, was far more than a mere audition; it was a vibrant celebration of the talent, creativity, and collaborative spirit flourishing within the nation’s expanding fashion scene.

“This year, we unveiled a new concept: Friends of Batho Fashion Week,” explained Emmanuel Kayenda, Director of Batho Fashion Week. “We extended invitations to fashion leaders, industry veterans, and nation builders to converge, not solely for talent scouting, but to mentor and inspire the next wave of creatives. Witnessing industry giants engage with models in such an inclusive, empowering environment was a truly powerful moment of connection.”
The casting event perfectly set the tone for Batho Fashion Week 2025, slated for September 11th and 12th. Day one will feature an insightful Discussion Panel, bringing together retail buyers from major brands, policymakers, and leading local designers. Day two will showcase the main fashion presentations, all united under the captivating theme, “Bloom Africa”, a vibrant tribute to African creativity, sustainability, and expression.
The triumph of the casting was significantly bolstered by a creative partnership with Pepsi, a brand dedicated to uplifting women and the broader creative industry. “Our collaboration with Pepsi perfectly aligns with our shared mission to elevate local talent and provide greater visibility and opportunities for women in the creative realm,” Kayenda added.
As Batho Fashion Week continues its impressive growth, the message rings loud and clear: Botswana’s fashion industry isn’t just poised to step into the spotlight—it’s ready to lead the way.
