STRIKING A NEW CHORD: Hey Nyenah’s choir hits the right notes
Hey Nyenah is a social media sensation and a true force in the entertainment industry, but he’s not just resting on his laurels. He’s taking his passion a step further by creating a brand-new choral and music group: the Hey Choral Choir.
This isn’t a typical choir; Hey Nyenah wants to give choral music a fresh meaning by blending it with contemporary music, dance, and art. The vision is to create a unique group that will turn heads and surprise audiences, maybe with a flash mob performance at a mall or an unexpected display in a public space.
This past Saturday, the search for talent began in earnest at Baisago University. Judges, including music veterans Lizibo and Star Hezek, spent the entire day listening to hopefuls. Sopranos, altos, and tenors filled the halls as singers of all ages tried to make the cut. It was a day filled with emotion.
Nerves got the best of some, with tears shed and voices wavering. As one aspiring singer put it, “It’s common to be scared in a competition.” But for many, the day was a beautiful display of different voices, faces, and dreams.
The process was meticulous. A team of young men and women registered each participant, asking them to fill out a small application form detailing their experience in choral music.
According to the judges, many of the auditionees were already part of other established choirs. To avoid any potential controversy or the appearance of “poaching” members, a key question was posed: Had they quit their previous choirs? The hopefuls confirmed they had, showing their commitment to Hey Nyenah’s new project.
While some singers were a bit out of tune and clearly nervous, a significant number blew the judges away. These were the ones who came prepared and it showed. Their ability to hit high notes, change voices seamlessly, and blend together earned them a spot in the choir.
Seeing these youngsters happy and with dreams of performing on elite stages was truly a breathtaking moment. As Hey Nyenah says, the choir aims to redefine the music industry and change lives by participating in various competitions, events, and corporate engagements. The goal is clear: to walk in the shoes of celebrated groups like the KTM Choir.
When all was said and done, over a hundred people were selected. Some were given a second chance, told to return for a second call because the judges believed that with some training and mentorship, they could be molded into polished singers. It’s a new beginning for these artists, and with Hey Nyenah at the helm, the Hey Choral Choir is ready to strike a new chord in the world of music.
